Our Priorities
Focused on practical priorities that strengthen our schools, support responsible leadership, and put community first.
Strong Leadership
Leadership is not about volume or spectacle. It is about transparency, consistency, and a genuine respect for the people you serve. Jamie believes effective leadership begins with listening — first and often — and with a willingness to explain decisions honestly and clearly, even when those decisions are difficult.
Representing a district means representing everyone who lives there, not just those who agree with you or support your campaign. Jamie is committed to approaching public service with the principle of loving thy neighbor and treating every person with dignity, fairness, and respect, regardless of background, belief, or political affiliation.
Steady leadership requires openness, accountability, and a focus on building trust over time. By listening carefully, engaging transparently, and governing with empathy and common sense, Jamie aims to represent Michigan’s House District 63 with integrity and a genuine commitment to the people who call it home.
Strong Schools
Michigan’s education system has slipped in national rankings over the past several decades, and that decline did not happen by accident. It is the result of repeated choices to underfund public education, delay long-term planning, and treat schools as an afterthought rather than a foundation of our state’s future.
Schools cannot succeed when funding is unpredictable or inadequate. Yet year after year, education budgets are delayed, shortchanged, or used as leverage in political standoffs. When current legislators fail to pass a state budget within the legally allotted timeframe, schools are left uncertain, districts are forced to plan without clarity, and students ultimately pay the price.
Strong public schools require steady leadership, timely budgeting, and a real commitment to funding education responsibly. Michigan can do better by its students, educators, and families — and it starts with leaders who treat education as a priority, not a bargaining chip.
Strong communities are built through relationships, shared responsibility, and people showing up for one another. Jamie believes community matters because it is where everyday life happens — in schools, neighborhoods, local organizations, and the connections that bring people together. Jamie has long supported local efforts that strengthen community life, including helping the Anchor Bay Band Boosters, volunteering with a local animal rescue, and supporting community groups like the local fishing club. These experiences reinforce the belief that healthy communities depend on people stepping up, lending a hand, and staying engaged.
As a representative, Jamie is committed to supporting policies that strengthen local organizations, protect community spaces, and respect the role neighbors and volunteers play in making our district a place people are proud to call home.
